The Last Two Weeks of Summer, Part 2: Black Monday

I got caught up in the same mistake several of you did.

I assumed that this version of me, right here, right now, is on the edge of history. Like we all were in 2001 or 2007. We get hit in the face with a not-regularly programmed catastrophe and suddenly our histories come into sharp focus, our philosophies reinforced, our fears laid on the table.

Many of us discovered in those strange two hours this morning that we fully expect this economy to implode under us. And maybe it will. But not today.
